Notes for Transmission System Engineering Items above

1.      Path survey prices are for the continental U.S. only.  Contact Transmission Engineering for a quote for surveys in Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and other countries.

2.      Air fare (ITEM-05) should always be added to a Path Survey.  Air fare shown is an estimate for one surveyor.  If multiple surveyors are required, multiple air fares should be quoted.  Actual air fare will billed after the completion of the survey.

3.      Use this price (ITEM-04) for unconnected paths in a multi-hop system.

4.      The Path Survey price includes two copies of the survey report on CD-ROM.  Additional copies of the report may be purchased at the prices shown  (ITEM-06 and ITEM-07).  The price of a printed report depends on the number of paths in the survey.  For example, the price of a printed report for a 10 hop survey is:  $35 + 17.50 x 10 = $210.

5.      System maps are simple stick type maps showing site name and path distance.  For drawings that contain “–098” type system information, contact Wireless Network Engineering.

6.      For a feasibility study, most projects require a System Map, Path Design, and Performance Calculations (e.g., ITEM-09, ITEM-11, and ITEM-12).  For a final design, most projects require a Path Survey, System Map, Path Design, and Performance Calculations.

7.      Prices are for one pair of frequencies.  Each additional frequency pair on the same path will be billed at these rates, up to a maximum of 4 pairs.  There is no charge for the 5th frequency pair on the same path (or subsequent pairs).  Frequency coordination for U.S. Common Carriers and Private operators normally includes Frequency Selection (ITEM-13 or ITEM-14), Prior Coordination (ITEM-15), and FCC License Application (ITEM-22).

8.      The 30 day Prior Coordination period may be reduced using Expedited Prior Coordination (ITEM-16 and ITEM-17).  This charge is in addition to the Normal 30-day Prior Coordination (ITEM-15).  License submittal to the FCC is included in ITEM-22 and is done electronically through the FCC Universal Licensing System (“ULS”).

9.      Alcatel can handle FCC Filing Fees, if the customer does not want to pay fees directly to the FCC  (ITEM-23 and ITEM-24).  Fees are for FCC Part 101 systems.  The FCC does not charge licensing fees for state and local governments (including education).

10.  License application preparation includes the technical and administrative portions of the FCC 601 form.  Alcatel does not act as an FCC liaison for customers applying for licenses.  Many customers consult with an FCC lawyer to answer regulatory questions, write waiver requests, and expedite action by the Commission.

11.  Hourly rates may be used in lieu of prices for Feasibility Study, Path Design, and Frequency Selection / Coordination.

12.  Prior Coordination Notices (“PCN”) are effective for 6 months and may be renewed every
6 months, indefinitely.  This is called a “Reiteration”.  Microwave operators may use reiterations to hold frequencies for future growth.  However, the FCC requires growth channels to be released if another operator is unable to coordinate a frequency and requires the growth channel.

13.  The FCC requires a Completion of Construction notice to be filed for each microwave site.  Customers normally file this notice electronically using ULS.  Alcatel will include this the administrative portions of the FCC 601 form (ITEM 22).

14.  This additional filing fee is required if the customer is requesting a waiver of the FCC rules.  Note that if a waiver is filed, the microwave path cannot be put into operation until the FCC license is granted (i.e., Conditional Licensing is not allowed, where the path is put into operation as soon as the license application is filed).

15. International frequency coordination requires data entry of the complete frequency database.  Frequency coordination companies like Comsearch do not have access to frequency databases for foreign countries and must build a new database.  Some complex systems in the 5.8 GHz unlicensed band in the U.S. may require frequency coordination from a coordination company.  These prices also apply to unlicensed systems, if necessary.
